The Yale Band began in 1918 with a performance at Yale’s Commencement and then subsequently at Yale football games (that entity is now the Yale Precision Marching Band). In the 107 years since, the Yale Bands world has expanded to include the Yale Concert Band (1946), the Yale Jazz Ensemble (1983), and the Yale Jazz Ensemble Combos (2019).
Each of these groups has four areas of need: commissioning new music, equipment repair and acquisition, touring and travel, and lessons. Many Yale Bands alums have benefited from the generosity of their fore bearers, and even today, many band members receive subsidies to tour and travel and study their applied instruments.
Thank you for considering a gift to the Yale Bands. (Class gifts can be designated to the Yale Bands Endowments.) Your support can be directed toward the specific areas of greatest need, or gifts to the general Yale Band Endowment allow the Director to allocate funds where they are most needed.
If you have any questions or would like more information on supporting the Yale Bands, please contact Haley Sabitus Torab, Director of Development for Yale College, at haley.sabitus@yale.edu.
