Yale Concert Band Officers

The Yale Bands President maintains contact with the Yale Administration and serves as the Band’s official student representative at University functions. The President prepares agendas for, calls, and chairs officer meetings; assesses the capabilities of band leaders and delegates jobs accordingly; oversees activities of all Yale Concert Band leaders; acts as liaison between members and the Director of the Bands; resolves intra-band conflicts; oversees general direction of the Band from the students’ perspective; schedules and executes Yale Concert Band events, election and appointment of officers, and Commencement activities. 

This year’s President is Jared Wyetzner.

The General Manager works with the Business Manager to ensure the Yale Concert Band operates smoothly. General Managers set up and break down equipment for all Yale Concert Band events, work with percussion leaders to transport equipment whenever necessary, organize work teams, and make sure that rehearsal and performance venues are clean following an event. 

This year’s General Managers are Isaiah Harvey and Julien Yang.

The Social Chairs provide opportunities for Yale Concert Band social gatherings, ranging from parties and picnics to barbecues to bowling trips.  Standing responsibilities of the Social Chairs include preparing receptions after Yale Concert Band concerts and coordinating the annual retreat. The Social Chairs work closely with the Business Manager to keep receptions within budget, and raise funds for all other Yale Concert Band social events. 

This year’s Social Chairs are Zoe Frost and Lizzie Seward

The Publicity Chair helps publicize concerts and update and maintain the Yale Bands website. The Publicity Chair manages email lists, uploads recordings to YouTube, manages social media, and assists with media-related projects. They also acts as a general computer and technology support for all band-related projects. 

This year’s Publicity Chairs are Greta Garrison and Amelia Shaw.

Yale Precision Marching Band Officers

The Yale Precision Marching Band Drum Major, Marching Band Manager, Announcers, and Photographers are not elected, but rather appointed by Dr. Duffy, with the input of the outgoing Drum Major, Manager, and a volunteer Selection Committee. 

The Drum Major directs the Yale Precision Marching Band at all events, and leads rehearsals. The Drum Major is a decision maker for the Yale Precision Marching Band, working in tandem with the Marching Band Manger to ensure events and rehearsals run smoothly.The Drum Major often serves as a social leader, a spiritual leader, and a musical leader for  the Yale Precision Marching Band.

This year’s Drum Major is Shell Ross.

The Yale Precision Marching Band Manager is responsible for all of the details of running a band, including maintaining schedules. 

This year’s Marching Band Manager is Kate Hall

Social Chairs provide opportunities for social gatherings, coordinate band parties, organize the annual band retreat, and provide meals at football game rehearsals. The Social Chairs work closely with the Business Manager to keep receptions within budget, and raise funds for all other Yale Precision Marching Band social events. 

This year’s Social Chairs are Noelle Smith and Cameron Gray-Lee.

Equipment Managers are responsible for keeping an inventory of band instruments, tracking band blazer rentals, and setting up chairs and stands for rehearsals.

This year’s Equipment Managers are Ethan Hidalgo and AJ LaConte

Band Photographers attend and document the Yale Precision Marching Band performances and activities on film. Photographers will also compile scrapbooks to share memories with members.

Production Managers lead the conception and execution of each Yale Precision Marching Band’s halftime show. Production Managers work with the Drum Major, Student Arranger, and other band members interested in show production to coordinate all the pieces to create a halftime show. 

Section Leaders consist of representatives from each instrumental section and make sure all section members are present and given the correct music to perform.
